Tim Williams playing drums for Area7 at the Stones Corner Festival, Brisbane 2019

About me - Tim Williams

“For me, music isn’t a hobby or just a phase (mum) - it’s my life”

I’ve been playing music as long as I can remember and when I wasn’t playing it, I was listening to it. As a youngen growing up in country Victoria, I obsessed and absorbed every aspect of my record collection. I jammed along with the greats…first Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and The Stray Cats then came Green Day, The Offspring, Bodyjar and anything fast, melodic and technical. This paved the way for my future life long career in music.

I've now been playing music for around 35 years and teaching for almost 25 of those. Though I'm probably most known for playing the drums, I also play & teach guitar, bass and ukulele. I really enjoy helping musicians of all levels reach their full potential.

You may have seen me on stage playing with American punk legends Unwritten Law, Aria nominees Area-7 and Aussie punk/ska legends The Porkers. Playing in these and many other bands has let me share the stage with some of the worlds largest acts - Smash Mouth, Everclear, Reel Big Fish, Goldfinger, The Ramones, MxPx, Guttermouth and Mad Caddies to name a few.

I've shared stages with, worked as a guitar/drum tech, or filled in on drums for Aussie bands such as Airborne, Chasing Ghosts, Spiderbait, Jebadiah, Frenzal Rhomb, Bodyjar, 28 Days, Regurgitator, Custard, Killing Heidi, Shihad, The Fireballs, Troy Cassar-Daley, Lee Kernaghan, Ball Park Music, The Bennies & many many more.

Playing gigs of this high caliber, I’ve gained a wealth of knowledge from the leaders in music industry, musicianship and production and I thoroughly enjoy sharing this knowledge with all my students and clients.

After running a successful chain of musical instrument retail stores for 7 years, I designed musical instruments in China for the Australian market and touring around the nation with high profile alternative rock acts, I've returned to my roots to mentor a new generation of aspiring Wimmera musos by creating “Horsham Music”.

For those locals that remember, I grew up around the Wimmera music scene playing in bands from a young age in the region and having owned & operated the multi-award winning music store 'Rockstuff' in Horsham between 2005-2013. The Rockstuff music store boasted a huge range of musical instruments for sale, a recording studio, a music school of almost 200 students a week and regularly held guitar & drum clinics with some of Australia's largest musical talents such as Brett Garsed (John Farnham band).

The Rockstuff music store also organised numerous battle of the band competitions, all ages gigs & events giving Wimmera youth a taste of live music made by their peers.

Enough about me - I'll be teaching drums, guitar, bass & ukulele in 2025 at Horsham Music and I’d love to have you be a part of it.
